Global Expantion

Recently I was asked to create a global strategy for a major machine tool manufacturing company. As I was compiling data, I noticed that they were not taking advantage of the low hanging fruit here in the United States. Times being what they are, I question major Global expansion. I have participated in global expansion for Fadal.  It is a lot of work and it takes time, several years in some cases. If you need an immediate boost of sales look for all of the impediments to success here in the…See More

Family of Parts Fixture

I was telling Bernard that lately I was thinking about Family of Parts fixturing. It is a really cool idea. A company has five different products. The shop makes a fixture that secures all of the parts for one unit. Every time the operator pushes the button, they make the parts needed for one unit. Couple that idea with a lock and load sub plate and life is sweet! You could really calculate time for throughput. The bottle neck would not be the machine shop. There would be no inventory except…See More

Hello! I am Daniel de Caussin. I grew up in a machine shop and was holding tenths on a lathe when I was fifteen. I went to School at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and majored in Agronomy and Business. My family's machine shop started to make tool changers to retrofit to knee mills. My grandfather Francis asked me to leave school and help the business. So I loaded up the truck and moved to North Hollywood. Fadal is an acronym of the first name of my grandfather, my father, and my uncles. (Francis, Adrian, David, And Larry)

I have been able to participate in all aspects of manufacturing ranging from machining to global strategy.

Recently I have been living in Florida with my wife Molly. I currently hold a position as a Manufacturing Manager. I work in conjunction with our engineer to develop chairs used in dental surgery. I am involved in Lean Manufacturing and design for manufacturing.
